They should most definately be brighter than regular halogen bulbs. The normail lumen rating for a HID bulb around 4300k is 3300 lumens. Normal halogen bulbs are lucky to produce 1000 lumens. Here is a great website on HID's: HID do's and dont's I agree with nearly all of the information in it. Except for the part on 8000k bulbs. I have 8000k HID's in my z, No I didnt buy them because I thought they were gunna be brighter given the higher K number (never true) I bought them to achieve a fresher look. I knew/realized when i bought them that the lumen output was around 200 less than a standard oem color 4300k bulb, but I just wanted to achieve a little bit of a nicer look. My hid's are still bright as hell, I have no problems lighting up the road and also have no problems with eye fatigue. Also, there is a difference in quality when you spend $100 on a kit from ebay or if you spend $350 on a kit you will see a difference.
